Welcome to the hints page for the third puzzle of the Puzzle Backpack! Here, you will find information to help you on your way through this puzzle and open the silver letter/number/symbol lock.

Each hint reveals more information about the puzzle. To move on to the next hint, tap the next button.

2. Riddle 1 Hint

The first answer you are looking for is a number. This is the sign you need to find. It is located on the wall across from the snake and tortoise habitats.

Count the circles with adaptations in them at the bottom of the sign. The first part of the lock’s combination is 4 

4. Riddle 2 Hint

The second answer you are looking for is a letter. This is the sign you need to find. It is located on the wall across from the frogs and skink habitat.

5. Another Riddle 2 Hint

The word you are looking for is the scientific word for “cold-blooded”, meaning that these animals get all of their body heat from their environment.

The word is Ectothermic. The second part of the lock’s combination is E 

7. Riddle 3 Location Hint

The third answer you are looking for is a letter. This is the sign you need to find. It is located on the wall near the middle exit of Reptile Realm, between Komodo dragons and the other half of the building.

The circled animal looks like this. Can you see the shape of a letter when you look at their neck?

The snake’s neck is hiding an S shape. The third part of the lock’s combination is S.

10. Riddle 4 Hint

The fourth answer you are looking for is a letter. This is the sign you need to find. It is located in the hallway where the Komodo dragons live.

Can you spot the world’s smallest amphibian on this sign? It is the Brazilian Flea Toad. 

12. Riddle 4 Answer

The first letter of the third word of Brazilian Flea Toad is T. The fourth part of the lock’s combination is T.

13. Riddle 5 Hint

The last answer you are looking for is not on a sign – you just have to solve the riddle. What do you put at the end of a sentence when you want to show that you are saying it with enthusiasm?

The answer is an exclamation point! The final part of the lock’s combination is ! 

15. Lock Combination (Answer)

The combination that opens the lock is "4EST!". If you are still having trouble opening the lock, refer to the lock instructions provided with the puzzle in the backpack.
